A major construction controversy has emerged, where allegedly counterfeit windows were installed in 84 luxury apartments. The dispute centers around a prestigious residential project consisting of six towers, with two currently in the process of being populated.
A construction firm has filed a lawsuit seeking approximately $1.1 million dollars in damages against an aluminum contractor. The lawsuit claims that the subcontractor installed windows with fraudulent certification stamps, failing to meet required standards.
The issue came to light when a project inspector discovered that the installed windows didn’t meet regulatory requirements and reportedly had fake certification stickers. These standards are crucial as they ensure the windows can withstand various weather conditions, including strong winds and rain.
Upon discovering the alleged fraud, the construction company took immediate action to prevent delays in occupancy. They removed the questionable windows from 84 of the 115 apartments in one tower and replaced them with certified windows from another tower in the project that wasn’t scheduled for immediate occupancy.
The aluminum contractor has strongly denied all allegations, stating that all installed windows were manufactured according to standards. They plan to file a detailed defense and counterclaim, arguing there was no justification for such a dramatic and unprecedented window replacement operation.
The property developer has confirmed that all apartments in the project will be delivered with windows that meet required standards, maintaining their commitment to their customers. The case highlights the importance of properly negotiating contracts and understanding the requirements in construction projects.
The matter is now set for legal proceedings, with both parties preparing to present their cases in court.
